Clinic responsibilities
All physicians in the department have regular patient care duties in the Dermatology Clinic. Residents have scheduled patients four days each week, with one day for independent study. In general, the schedules accommodate times for both new and return patients. Additional patients may be scheduled based on urgency of medical condition, patient convenience or other factors. An attending is assigned to each clinic as the supervising teaching physician. Progressive independence in patient management occurs with advancement in the training program. On most days, morning conference begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 8:45 a.m. Morning clinic begins at 9 a.m. and ends when all patients have been seen. Afternoon clinic begins at 1 p.m. and is usually completed by 5 p.m.

Hospital duties
Residents are assigned to the hospital and consult service for one-month intervals in rotation. This resident sees all in-patient consultations requested by other services. A staff physician sees all consultation and admitted patients with the resident.
