Pathology conference
Pathology conferences are held weekly with core curriculum taught by Drs. Dirk Elston, Tammie Ferringer & Eric Hossler. Dermatopathology rotation includes slide review and sign out with our four dermatopathologists.

Clinical Image conference
The clinical image unknown conference is conducted by the staff each week, and occasionally by the Chief Resident. Images are presented to the residents for morphologic description and differential diagnosis. This conference is designed to present both common and unusual cutaneous diseases and formation of a differential diagnosis and decisions regarding therapy.

Journal club
Assigned journals are discussed each week. In general, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology is reviewed the first and second weeks of the month, followed by Archives of Dermatology in the third week, and miscellaneous journal articles in the fourth week.

Book club
Weekly sessions of assigned sections from various texts are reviewed. Covered disciplines include clinical dermatology, immunology and basic science. Most sessions are moderated by a staff physician, who presents clinical images and directs the discussion.

Other morning conferences
A variety of different conferences is held. Staff members from other departments may lecture on topics of interest in dermatology. Basic science topics are discussed in a monthly conference. Surgery club convenes monthly to review pertinent topics in dermatologic surgery. On most days, morning conference begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 8:45 a.m.
