Geisinger Medical Center is both a tertiary care center and multispecialty clinic providing outstanding care in a safe, beautiful and inexpensive area. Geisinger Health System is a nationally recognized physician-led integrated system of health care, which includes three hospitals, an alcohol and chemical dependency facility, a health plan, and research facilities for both basic science and clinical outcomes. With more than 600 employed physicians and primary care sites located in more than 30 counties, Geisinger is able to provide primary and subspecialty health care to more than two million people residing in central Pennsylvania. Our residents have the opportunity to learn all aspects of internal medicine, from primary care to the most specialized and innovative techniques, yet live without crime, traffic or other big-city stress. The following web pages provide an overview of the internal medicine program. Inside you will discover more about our program and curriculum, meet the people who make our residency special, and learn how to apply. Geisinger Medical Center offers a variety of clinical experiences for third and fourth year students. Interested students may do either a subspecialty elective or a sub-internship in inpatient medicine, cardiology, neurology or critical care.
