How to Apply/Contact Us

The Orthopaedics Residency participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for NRMP matching candidates.

Resident Selection Overview
Our five-year Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program accepts two PGY-1 resident trainees to begin on July 1of each year. Applicants are selected for interviews based on the personal standards of individual faculty members and current residents, medical school transcripts, letters of recommendation, and USMLE scores.

The interview process takes place in December and January. Each applicant selected to interview meets with as many faculty members as possible, and will have substantial time to spend with current residents. Included in the day's schedule are tours of Geisinger Medical Center's facilities (including our outpatient surgery center), and tours of Danville and the surrounding area for spouses and significant others. Hotel accommodations for the evening before are arranged through the Office of Medical Education, along with a reception the evening before by the Orthopaedic Surgery Residents.
