| | Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics | Combined training in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics is a large part of our residency. Of our 43 house staff officers, 20 are currently in combined training in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics. Ours is one of the largest combined Internal Medicine/Pediatric training programs in the country, it is also one of the oldest. The Internal Medicine/Pediatrics combined program is a very mature program, with numerous graduates firmly established in their careers all over the country.
Like other combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics programs, our program is four years long, with half of the time spent in Internal Medicine and another half of the time spent in Pediatrics. In general, housestaff rotate from one side to the other every three months for the entire four years. Upon completion of the program, residents become eligible to take the certifying examination in both specialties.
Graduates completing this training are eligible to do fellowships in either Medicine or pediatrics or in combined fellowships. Most of our graduates in this track practice primary care of adults and children. |
