Computer Access

Residents and students experience a forward-thinking philosophy of technology at Geisinger. From test results to resident evaluations, e-healthcare advancements benefit both the patient and physician team. That’s why Geisinger is committed to educating residents and fellows in the computer-related health processes. In fact, Geisinger Health System has earned a prominent place on the 2006 national list of "100 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems," published by Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN) magazine.

Commitment to Technology

Explore Geisinger Health System's development and innovative use of the electronic health record (EHR)

Patient records are maintained by EPIC, an easy access electronic health record (EHR). The digital film library, laboratory medicine, pathology and other diagnostics are all combined in the EHR, with access across the entire 31 county system and secure availability from home.

Geisinger residents and students have dedicated workrooms with computer workstations. All stations have 24-hour intranet and web-based access to the nationally recognized electronic health services library. Email and internet service is available throughout Geisinger’s campuses and through remote channels.

In an effort to make medical education as efficient as possible, evaluations and training are also completed through a web-based program.
