| | Student Evaluation | The medical student rotating in pediatric cardiovascular and thoracic surgery will be evaluated based upon multiple criteria. These include: | - Active participation in the preoperative, operative and postoperative care of CVTS patients
- Daily presentations during rounds
- Ability to work with all members of the health care team and communication skills
- History taking and physical examinations skills
- Clinical judgment
- Documentation in written and electronic health record
- Fund of knowledge appropriate for level of training
- Procedural competency (e.g., willingness to learn, assist and perform at an appropriate level)
- Oral presentations
- Ability to access and utilize the electronic health record
- Communication and professionalism with families of children undergoing CVTS intervention
- Attendance
- Participation in active learning (e.g., reviewing the medical literature, textbook, and educational resource utilization)
The student will be evaluated by attendings with resident input. Grades will be distributed as follows: | It is required that all students complete a clerkship evaluation and submit it to Tracey Lepley prior to departing. The medical student’s input is strongly encouraged in order to achieve our educational objectives. |
