- Define basic application processes
- Identify key themes for improvement efforts
- Outline an implementation plan including effectively meeting education needs of medical students, residents and attending physicians
- Develop meeting management skills
- Describe basic steps in managing change
- Describe the value and context for the EHR tools and implement them in clinical care settings
Educational method Workshop, case presentations and facilitated discussion; following the course didactic work, the participant will be engaged in one or more education teams for an additional 20 hour of more engagement over the next 10 months. These may be departmental teams EHR education teams. Study will include learning methods of training, testing training materials and participating as an EHR physician expert in leading a group in the implementation of EHR tools. Participants will complete their engagement by teaching or precepting their colleagues and presenting their work in system meetings using storyboards or posters. Geisinger clinical associates will team with residents and medical student learners; one associates, one or two residents and up to one medical student with one facilitator per team. Five teams will be accepted for this course. Team departments will include: - Medicine
- Pediatrics
- Radiology
- Surgery
- Obstetrics/gynecology
Who should attend or "Why Lead the EHR Implementation?" Participation will be by invitation from the co-directors. Participants who are in a position to effect change, who plan to participate in education teams and who demonstrate evidence that they will incorporate their learning into future work will be given preference. Medical students interested in learning more about the use and implementation of EHR should seek the support of the Director of Medical Student Affairs. |
