Study aids
A basic Internal Medicine textbook, such as Harrison’s or Cecil’s, is a good resource for students. However, these texts are very lengthy and generally cannot be completely read during the clerkship. The American College of Physicians publishes Internal Medicine Essentials for Clerkship Students. This text is geared towards third-year students and is easily read during the clerkship. In addition to daily reading from texts, we offer a wide array of on-line resources including Up To Date, MD Consult, OVID, and Harrison’s.

Learning to focus reading on individual patients is a valuable skill that will be required throughout a physician’s career. The student must find time every day to study.
