Evaluation and Education tracking
  1. Students will keep a daily log of inpatient and outpatients. Logs will include include clinical diagnosis, medical record number and preceptor.
  2. Students will meet with the course coordinator on the first day and have a personal evaluation during the second and last week of the rotation.
  3. Educational issues may be addressed at any time with the course coordinator.
  4. There is no written examination unless given by affiliate school.
  5. Completion of the rotation requires providing the course director with the student’s patient log and a brief written summary of the weekly cases presented (see number 3 below) at the exit interview.

Presentations

  1. Student will present a case during monthly M&M or grand rounds with the assistance of one of the staff clinicians and prepare a 5-minute talk on a relevant topic.
  2. Student will present patients during clinic and on rounds to supervising residents and attending staff.
  3. The student will prepare 2 cases per week to review in depths with a staff physician.

Grades are determined by clinical performance and obtainment of core educational goals.
Grades are given as follows:
Honors – 90th percentile or greater performance
High Pass – 80th – 89th percentile
Pass - 65th – 79th percentile
Fail - 64th -percentile or lower
