Sites
In order to provide students with a broad range of pediatric experiences, students rotate on the inpatient pediatric wards in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital (JWCH), in our newborn nursery located in the Women’s Pavilion at Geisinger Medical Center, and in several of our clinics. While in the clinics students will have experiences in both a daily continuity clinic as well as our acute care clinic. Daily schedule
Daily schedules will vary depending upon above sites, however a general schedule is provided below 6:00 – 7:30 am: Prerounding for medical students while on inpatient service only 7:30 – 8 am: Case based morning report, JWCH 1st floor conference room 8 am: Report to inpatient unit or outpatient clinic 11:45 am: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday medical student conference, JWCH 1st floor conference room 12:30 pm: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Noon conference, JWCH 1st floor conference room; Tuesday pediatric grand rounds, Hemelright auditorium 1:30 – 5 pm:Report to inpatient unit or outpatient clinic Call schedule: During the inpatient experience, third-year students take a short call until 10 pm every fourth night excluding Saturdays and Sundays. |
