Elective operative procedures are performed either one or two days per week (depending upon an alternating schedule). Urgent or emergent cases potentially occur at any time. 

Thoracic surgery clinic occurs two full days per week, onevery Thursday and alternating Mondays/Wednesdays. Each Thursday we conduct the multidisciplinary Lung & Esophageal Cancer Clinic, which includes a lunchtime focused tumor board. 

Thoracic Oncology Tumor Board occurs at 7 am every first Thursday of the month. Thoracic Surgery Morbidity & Mortality Conference occurs at 7 am every third Thursday of the month. Surgical Oncology Tumor Board occurs every Wednesday at 8:15 am. Hematology/Oncology Tumor Board occurs every Friday at 7:30 am. Additional conferences include Surgical Grand Rounds, which is scheduled by the division of surgery. Attendance at all conferences is not always possible, and is at the discretion of the director of the department. 

Independent preview rounds by the students on their assigned patients are expected to be completed prior to the beginning of the scheduled work day (clinic or operating room), including the completion of an electronic progress note.
