Introduction

The Department of Urogynecology at Geisinger Health System offers a four-week elective rotation in this specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our attending urogynecologists annually provide care for 8,000 patients and perform surgical procedures for 600 of them. Patients come from throughout the state of Pennsylvania and range in age from 30 – 90 years. We provide comprehensive urogynecology care that includes: gynecology, sexual dysfunction, female incontinence, menopause education and counseling, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and recurrent urinary tract infection.

The rotating medical student will be integrated into our services by becoming active in the daily care of our patients. Medical students will be expected to gain an understanding of a systematic approach to additional evaluation and treatment. Our current teaching faculty includes: Mitesh Parkeh, MD; Vatche Minassian, MD; and Deborah Poplawsky, MD.

The department of urogynecology is proud to offer this exciting educational opportunity. We are confident that you will have a pleasant and rewarding educational experience. Acceptance into the elective is by application only. Contact Ms. Tracey Lepley with inquiries.
