Lackawanna and Luzerne Medical Societies donate proceeds of golf tournament to Geisinger Commonwealth

Gift will support medical student scholarships

The Lackawanna and Luzerne County Medical Societies recently presented a donation to Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (Geisinger Commonwealth). The donation was made from the proceeds of the medical societies’ third annual golf tournament and clambake held Monday, Sept. 25 at Glenmaura National Golf Club. The funds will be used to support medical student scholarships at the school.

The Lackawanna and Luzerne County Medical Societies, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Medical Society, are the professional association for the state’s physicians and physicians in training. These nonprofit organizations represent more than 1,000 physicians, residents, fellows, medical students and practice administrators. Their mission is to promote an environment which fosters excellence in medical care; act as an advocate for physicians, and, together with them, their patients; and represent physicians to the entire community.
