Community faculty appointments

As a Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine clinical faculty member, you will need to take the necessary steps to maintain your clinical faculty appointment. Geisinger Commonwealth expects their clinical faculty to participate in the regularly scheduled regional clinical faculty meetings that are held quarterly in each region. Each session counts as participation in two faculty development credit hours. If you are unable to attend the regional clinical faculty meetings, they are available for faculty to view on the Geisinger Commonwealth CME page. Once completing the online session, be sure to fill out the session evaluation to receive the faculty development credit hours. Participating in Geisinger Commonwealth sponsored faculty development and continuing medical education either online or in person is a must to retain your clinical faculty appointment. Being an active participant in the education of students is vital to keeping your faculty appointment active. Serving as a continuity mentor, third- or fourth-year course director, participating in lectures/demonstrations or participating in admissions interviews and serving on committees are great ways to keep your appointments active.
