Biography

Scott Koerwer, PhD, EdD, is an entrepreneurial leader in education and business with more than 30 years of experience. In addition to working at world-class institutions of higher education, he has been a leader in five entrepreneurial startups and dozens of executive education program initiatives and consulting engagements around the world.

Dr. Koerwer is a subject matter expert and sought out advisor to organizations on topics including – institutional growth, strategy development and implementation, management and leadership development, executive education, marketing, higher education enrollment, fundraising and entrepreneurial programs & partnerships. He has worked with world-class organizations, executives, faculty, staff and students to develop and implement programs, consulting engagements and educational partnerships in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and the United States. His teaching and research are focused on social systems science, leadership and teams, change and innovative ecosystems.

Previously he served as: the twenty-first president of Newberry College and a faculty member of the business department; deputy dean and clinical professor of management at The Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina; associate dean of graduate and executive programs and services at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland; and as a director in the Executive Education Division of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he worked in a consultative educational manner with organizations around the globe. Scott has served in leadership and/or partner roles at startup and early stage companies including: Redhead Companies, Continuum Consulting, Intelliworks, Syllutions, Percipient Partners and Learning Communities.

Active in the community, Scott is or has served on boards or organizations including: the Sidhu School of Business and Leadership Advisory Board at Wilkes University, the Keystone College Board of Trustees, the Muhlenberg College class fund chair, the Abington YMCA Advisory Board, the Columbia, South Carolina Red Cross Advisory Board, and multiple chambers of commerce boards.

Scott has a bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College. He earned a master’s degree in government from Lehigh University, and doctoral degrees in education from the University of Pennsylvania and philosophy from Thomas Jefferson University. He is an alumnus of the Kellogg School of Management Advanced Executive Program, the Harvard Graduate School of Education Institute for Education Management (IEM), the Arizona State/Georgetown University Academy for Innovative Higher Education Leadership and the Population Health Academy at Jefferson’s School of Population Health.

Scott and his wife Christine reside in Dallas, Pa., and have two daughters.
