Adjunct Professor in Strategy, Systems and Innovation

Biography

Jean-Marc Choukroun, PhD, is managing director, Park/Mathieson Group Inc. In this capacity, he assists clients in the areas of corporate and marketing strategy, business planning, organizational change and project management, and leads seminars and conferences for executives and managers in the United States and abroad.

He is adjunct faculty in the Emerging Challenges for HealthCare Leadership (ECHL) certificate program at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. He is also affiliated faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, where he lectures in the Organizational Dynamics Program and in the Wharton School Executive Education Division and adjunct faculty in the LeBow College of Business at Drexel University and at Jefferson University. He had previously served as a full-time member of the Wharton School faculty, including a term as Social Systems Sciences Department co-chairman, and has been a guest lecturer at a number of institutions in the United States and abroad.

Over his professional career, Dr. Choukroun has worked in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, energy, telecommunications, aeronautics, financial services, consumer products, food and beverages, government and not-for-profit in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Representative US and international clients include Johnson & Johnson, Nokia, Merck, Evonik Industries, Eli Lilly, Coca-Cola (Turkey), McCormick, Quest Diagnostics, Boeing, Alstom, Newell Rubbermaid, Sunoco, American Express, PPL Electric Utilities, LabCorp, Anheuser-Busch Cos., General Electric, DuPont, Dow Chemicals, United States Postal Service, Transport Canada, the City of Philadelphia, The Pew Charitable Trusts.

Previous consulting affiliations include vice-president, strategy services, at Omega Group Inc., practice leader at Strategic Management Group, Inc.; senior founding partner at Bernard Krief Consultants USA; and senior consultant at Peat, Marwick and Partners.

Recent consulting assignments have been in the areas of corporate strategy, marketing, branding and brand positioning, strategy session facilitation and business planning. Executive and management development seminars have included strategic and systems thinking, strategy execution, customer value creation, finance for non-financial managers and project leadership.

Dr. Choukroun holds PhD, MA and MCP degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate engineer from the Ecole Polytechnique of Paris, France.

Publications include Planning for Human Systems (University of Pennsylvania Press), Using Core/Risk Analysis for Competitive Advantage (Handbook of Business Strategy, Faulkner & Gray Publishers) and A Framework for Planning (Essays on Quality, University of St. Thomas).
