Admissions Committee
Purpose: The Admissions Committee is charged with oversight and review of the admissions process, provides advice and guidance to the vice dean, dean and president on issues of admission policy and best practices, and selects students for admission to the school. Committee on Academic and Professional Standards
Purpose: The Committee on Academic and Professional Standards (CAPS) is vested with the responsibility of evaluating each medical student’s academic performance, academic integrity and professional and ethical behavior and making recommendations regarding promotion, dismissal, leaves of absence or any other appropriate actions to the vice dean in accordance with the CAPS policy.
Curriculum Action Committee
Purpose: The Curriculum Action Committee is charged with oversight and review of the medical school and other academic degree-granting program curricula. The committee provides advice and guidance to the vice dean and the dean/president on issues of curriculum innovation, Geisinger Commonwealth student performance, policy and best practices. The committee concerns itself with objectives, organization and evaluation of the curriculum leading to the MD and Master in Biomedical Sciences (MBS) degrees, and any other degrees that may be developed. The committee is empowered by the dean to develop and implement a coherent and coordinated curriculum in which there is logical sequencing of various segments of the curriculum, coordination within and across the academic periods of study, and appropriate method of pedagogy and evaluation to meet the school’s overall educational objectives.
Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee
Purpose: The Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee is charged with oversight and review of the appointment, promotion and tenure process for faculty. The committee provides advice and guidance to the vice dean and the dean/president on issues of promotion and tenure policy and best practices.
Committee on Graduate Admissions (CGA)
Purpose: The Committee on Graduate Admissions (CGA) is charged with implementation and review of the admissions procedures for Geisinger Commonwealth School of Graduate Education on behalf of the vice president/vice dean of the School of Graduate Education. The committee selects and recommends students for admission into the graduate programs to the associate dean for admissions, enrollment management and financial aid. Committee for Graduate Curriculum Oversight (CGCO)
Purpose: The Committee for Graduate Curriculum Oversight (CGCO) is charged with the review and oversight of all graduate and certificate program curricula. The committee provides advice and guidance to the vice president/vice dean for graduate education and the president/dean on issues of graduate curriculum innovation, learning outcomes, policy and best practices. The committee concerns itself with objectives, organization and evaluation of the curriculum leading to all graduate degrees and certifications. The committee is empowered by the president/dean and his/her appropriate designees to review.
Committee on Graduate Academic and Professional Performance (CGAPP)
Purpose: The Committee on Graduate Academic and Professional Performance (CGAPP) reviews the academic and professional performance of all students enrolled in Geisinger Commonwealth School of Graduate Education at least once per academic year. Additional meetings will be called at the discretion of the committee chair/assistant dean for graduate academic affairs to review student performance and progress as the need dictates.
