Required core learning experiences
Traditionally four weeks in length; length may be modified based on resident interest and preceptor availability except orientation.

  • Advanced internal medicine
  • Cardiology
  • Critical care (pre-requisite: infectious disease)
  • Infectious disease

Required longitudinal learning experiences

  • Ambulatory care: medication therapy disease management, pain management or hematology/oncology: six-month experience in the second half of the residency year
  • Drug information and health care education: 11-month experience
  • Major research project: 12-month experience
  • Pharmacy administration and medication safety: 11-month experience
  • Self-assessment and personal performance improvement: 12-month experience
  • Inpatient pharmacy staffing: 11-month experience
  • Teaching and learning curriculum program, Wilkes University: 11- month experience

Elective learning experiences
Traditionally four weeks in length; length may be modified based on resident interest and preceptor availability except where noted. The resident has to opportunity to select six electives as well as complete the International Medical Missions experience. The number of electives the resident may select may vary based on modifications to the traditional experience time frame.

  • Ambulatory care: medication therapy disease management
  • Ambulatory care: pain management
  • Ambulatory care: oncology
  • Emergency medicine (pre-requisite: infectious disease, critical care)
  • Hematology/oncology
  • International medical missions (longitudinal elective with one week of concentrated international travel)
  • Pediatrics
  • Pharmacy leadership
  • Precepting (pre-requisite: internal medicine, advanced internal medicine)
