Guthrie Campus (Sayre)
Guthrie is one of the nation's first multispecialty group practices. Today more than 220 specialty physicians and providers practice in Guthrie's large multispecialty Sayre facility, which serves as a major regional specialty care referral center.
Guthrie is the sponsoring institution for ACGME accredited residencies in:
- Anesthesiology
- Emergency medicine
- Family medicine
- Internal medicine
- Orthopedic surgery
- General surgery
As well as fellowships in:
- Cardiology
- Gastroenterology
- Pulmonary disease
- Critical care
This 288-bed tertiary care center offers a wide variety of multispecialty services, including:
- Cancer care
- Cardiac care
- Minimally invasive and robotic surgery
- Trauma care at a Level II trauma center
- Wound care
At Guthrie Campus, you’ll have access to a primary stroke center and Guthrie Air.

Guthrie Campus offers clinical sites in Pennsylvania’s Northern Tier and in neighboring upstate New York. Sayre is nestled in Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountains region, one that more than 180,000 people call home. Take in breathtaking mountain views, enjoy a variety of outdoor activities or soak up the region’s history. You’ll enjoy quaint towns dotted with bed-and breakfasts, state and national parks and surprising amenities like the historic French Azilum. You won’t want to miss Cherry Springs State Park, where visitors come from across the globe to experience the Dark Skies phenomenon where the lack of urban light offers visitors an astonishing view of the galaxy.

The Donald Guthrie Foundation has oversight responsibility for all student research activities. Its vision is to increase institutional visibility and patient care through research and education. While placed at the Guthrie campus, you can do research here or with the Medical Research Honors Program (MRHP).
