West Campus (Lewistown and State College)

Geisinger Lewistown Hospital delivers high-quality, coordinated, patient-centered care for residents of Mifflin County and beyond. Since first opening in 1908, the hospital has been part of the Lewistown community for more than 100 years. With many nationally recognized, award-winning specialty areas and modern facilities, Geisinger Lewistown Hospital offers a broad array of care.

The hospital campus has grown over the decades to include the Geisinger School of Nursing and outpatient and specialty care services.

This 133-bed and 12 bassinet campus gives you access to:

  • Maternity center
  • Behavioral health unit
  • Surgical center with robotic surgery options
  • Women's health services
  • Wound healing institute
  • Primary stroke center

Geisinger Healthplex State College

Part of our west campus, Geisinger Healthplex State College is the largest multi-specialty clinic in the Geisinger Health System. It houses everything from primary care to specialty services to an outpatient surgical and endoscopy center, plus support services like lab, radiology and pharmacy.

Community

This central PA region is home to The Pennsylvania State University. As you travel through the region, you’ll find covered bridges and quaint Victorian towns, along with Amish and Mennonite populations. 

Located along the Juniata River, Lewistown is home to many historic structures including its courthouse, Embassy Theatre, McCoy House and the Stone Arch Bridge. 

Its natural setting is great for outdoor activities like canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and hiking.

Student life

The Department of Student Affairs is here to support your academic, professional and personal growth. You’ll have access to a variety of resources, student clubs and organizations and cultural activities, all aimed at promoting student engagement. The department also helps with career advising and planning.

A variety of student housing is also available.

Research

Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is home to a unique and innovative residency program specifically geared toward rural and underserved populations. As a family medicine resident here, you’ll treat an array of pathologies and perform your own procedures. And you’ll have access to every kind of specialized care. 

Our Research Institute extends throughout Geisinger’s footprint. Do research here at west campus or with the Medical Research Honors Program (MRHP).
