Who’s a good candidate for Geisinger’s Bariatric and Foregut Surgery Fellowship?

  • BE/BC general surgeons who want to gain advanced minimally invasive surgical skills
  • Graduates of an LCME-accredited medical school; graduates of an AOA-accredited osteopathic medical school or graduates of a medical school outside the U.S. or Canada who have a valid ECFMG certificate
  • Physicians who’ve completed an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency
  • Physicians who maintain a valid unrestricted Pennsylvania license to practice medicine and meet the requirements for staff privileges at Geisinger Medical Center and all affiliated hospitals

Advanced fellowship training in surgical oncology or thoracic surgery is beneficial, too.

Where is the program located?

The hospitals in the fellowship — all in Pennsylvania — include Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

How long is the fellowship?

One year.
