GME onboarding and orientation

Congratulations and welcome! We’re looking forward to your arrival at Geisinger and working with you during the onboarding process. If you don’t find answers to your questions about onboarding and orientation, email

Institutional orientation dates:

  • PGY1 orientation will begin on Monday, June 19, and will end Friday, June 30.
  • Advanced resident and fellow (PGY2 and above) orientation will be held Monday, July 3, Wednesday, July 5, and Thursday, July 6.

Required institutional orientation modules will be conducted virtually through the Canvas Learning Management System. We’ll email you access instructions. Access to your Geisinger email will be granted June 19/July 3. Additional orientation requirements will be directed by your program administrator.  

Geisinger doesn’t hire applicants who use tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars and chewing or smokeless tobacco. Applicants will be screened for nicotine and nicotine will be part of the urine drug screen. Applicants who test positive may re-apply for jobs with Geisinger in six months.

All new incoming residents and fellows must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption.

*FBI Clearance (from the PA Department of Human Services) can take 6 to 8 weeks for report to be received in the mail. If you do not have a record, the report will be emailed to you.

*FBI Identity History Summary Check from the Department of Human Services can be requested before your license application has been initiated.
