GME onboarding and orientation

Congratulations and welcome! We’re looking forward to your arrival at Geisinger and working with you during the onboarding process. If you have any questions regarding onboarding and orientation, contact your program administrator. If you require assistance from Graduate Medical Education (GME), you can send an email to gmeorientation@geisinger.edu. Be sure to include your program name in the email and copy your program administrator on all emails sent to GME.

Institutional orientation dates:

  • PGY1 orientation will begin on Monday, June 17, and will end Friday, June 28.
  • Advanced resident and fellow (PGY2 and above) orientation will be held Monday, July 1–Wednesday, July 3 and Friday, July 5.

Your employment is conditional upon satisfactory completion of a negative drug screen. There must be no presence of drugs without a valid prescription. Marijuana is not legal in PA for recreational use and will be part of the drug screen. Additionally, Geisinger does not hire applicants who use tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars and chewing or smokeless tobacco. Nicotine will also be part of the drug screen.

  • Fingerprinting completed for FBI IdHSC
  • Fingerprinting completed for PA Department of Human Services Report
  • Certiphi Packages submitted (both emails)

May 19

  • All other listed checklist items
 
*FBI Clearance (from the PA Department of Human Services) can take six to eight weeks for report to be received in the mail. If you do not have a record, the report will be emailed to you.

*FBI Identity History Summary Check from the Department of Human Services can be requested before your license application has been initiated.
