Why Geisinger? I greatly enjoy the relationship pharmacy has cultivated at Geisinger. We are a welcome part of the healthcare team and have a large number of collaborative practice agreements with physicians; we are at the bedside rounding with the care team daily; and pharmacists are hands-on here, helping to set the standard for other hospitals across the country. A recent example was when Geisinger Medical Center became the first hospital in the country to receive Comprehensive Heart Attack Center Certification, and the pharmacy team here was praised for their work on this accomplishment. Pharmacists are not taken for granted by the team here, and every day I’m reminded of this.

PGY1 Residency: Banner - University Medical Center Tucson, AZ
Interests: Critical Care, Infectious diseases, Pediatrics, Oncology and Informatics
Why Geisinger? I chose Geisinger Medical Center for the wide range of patients served, and for the opportunity to learn unique clinical scenarios. I have always desired to train in an academic center with a varied spectrum of critically ill patients for my specialized training, but the teamwork and culture also makes a major difference. I knew I would be entering a supportive and positive environment when I spoke with Dr. Angela Slampak-Cindric and with other members of the critical care team during my interview. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to train with such an intelligent, hardworking and caring team.
