About us

The Geisinger Clinic Central Pharmacy Residency offers a customized pharmacy education to successfully prepare clinical pharmacists to care for various patient populations in an ambulatory care setting. Through the residency, you’ll innovate, lead and improve the quality of care for patients at Geisinger. You’ll be immersed in a collaborative interprofessional culture where clinical pharmacists practice at the top of their license across the health system. Your curriculum is customized to make sure you’re ready to achieve your personal and professional goals.

Through this program, you’ll gain access to unique opportunities across various specialties, expanding upon traditional ambulatory care. The Geisinger Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy program has more than 90 ambulatory clinical pharmacists managing patients’ medications for more than 20 medical conditions. This integration of pharmacy into medical services is a unique aspect of Geisinger.

Goals

Along with providing you with exceptional training as a clinical pharmacist, the residency aims to:

• Expand your knowledge and skillset while tailoring your postgraduate year one (PGY-1) experience to future professional goals
• Build on Doctor of Pharmacy education to develop clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions
• Prepare you for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY-2) residency training

Location

The Geisinger Clinic Central Pharmacy Residency is based in Danville, located in central Pennsylvania. To broaden your experience, the residency takes place across multiple locations, all within a 30-minute drive of Danville.

Central Pennsylvania offers many outdoor living activities and local festivals throughout the seasons. It’s easy to reach many urban areas and places of interest, for example:

• Harrisburg – 1.5 hours away
• Hershey – 1.5 hours away
• Wilkes-Barre – 1 hour away
• New York City – 3 hours away
