Chairman's message

At Geisinger, everything we do is about caring — for our patients, our communities and our Geisinger family. The beauty of this mission is in its simplicity. It keeps our feet on the ground and our eyes on the person in front of us, while at the same time we thrive as professional members of organization that has been leading the transformation of healthcare for over a century. We are recognized as one of the most innovative healthcare organizations in the country, and we are regarded by our patients as kind and unassuming. I simply cannot imagine a better place to learn and grow.

The mission of our Psychiatry Residency Training Program is to prepare the psychiatrists of the future. At Geisinger, the future is now. Our Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health sits within the world-class Geisinger Neuroscience Institute and includes a team of over 200 clinicians from various specialties of practice, including psychiatry, psychology, addiction medicine, advance practice providers, licensed social workers and many others. With a 20-year clinical data warehouse, a unique population genomics program, a diverse and stimulating patient population, a rich tradition of care redesign and an unwavering commitment to value-based models of behavioral health care delivery, the department provides tremendous clinical and academic opportunities unlike any other health care organization in the country.

Our approach to clinical training and education is to partner with students and trainees in their pursuit of professional and personal development. Your learning and growth are our learning and growth. That’s how a high-functioning team performs — and that’s what it means to be a part of the Geisinger family.
