Meditation apps

  • Calm App – $69.99/year (premium version). Apple’s App of the year in 2017. Offers daily guided meditations, trackers for progress, bed time meditations and stories, nature sounds and classes. Has family sharing capabilities.
  • Insight Timer – Free. Centre for Mindful Self-compassion. Contains a large library of guided meditations, with over 20,000 titles. Other versions include a variety of different bells that can be used for meditations of varying lengths.
  • Stop, Breathe & Think – Free. Daily check-ins and meditation dependent upon moods and age.
  • Breathe2Relax – Free. Interactive menu guides you through diaphragmatic breathing exercises. Such breathing techniques are known for interrupting stress receptors in the body. Recommended for anxiety, anger management and mood stabilization.
  • Universal Breathing by Saagara – Made for beginners. Teaches you how to breathe deeply and to retain your breath at intervals for concentrated control (pranayama). App keeps track of your progress.
  • Headspace – Free. Provides comprehensive guided meditation sessions.
