The Jennifer A. Sidari, MD ’13 Global Health Award

Jennifer A. Sidari MD '13

The legacy of a life well-lived, serving others at home and abroad

Jennifer Sidari’s love of travel and learning took her to many places around the world, seeking knowledge and fulfilling her goal to help others. Just weeks after Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine celebrated its first MD commencement ceremony, Jennifer passed away unexpectedly. A tremendous void was left where her extraordinary talent, passion and ambition should have been.

Locally, Jennifer volunteered at clinics in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and at the Care and Concern Clinic in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Nationally and internationally, she participated as a medical volunteer at a pediatric clinic in Haiti in the spring of 2013 and had also taken trips to South Africa and Oakland, CA, to work with HIV infected children and study pediatric infectious diseases. She was set to begin her residency training in pediatrics at the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville, Pennsylvania, in June 2013.

The Jennifer A. Sidari, MD ’13 Global Health Award was established in her memory to provide an educational stipend to students interested in serving as medical volunteers abroad.
