Clubs and Organizations Fair

Clubs and organizations can participate by registration only.

The Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine Clubs and Organizations Fair is hosted by the Medical Student Council (MSC). MSC is the governing board of all clubs and organizations. Clubs and organizations receive recognition from the Department Of Student Affairs, thus they also receive funding from MSC for the academic year.

In addition, the MSC treasurer coordinates the Geisinger Commonwealth Clubs and Organizations Fair to provide clubs and organizations an opportunity to promote themselves. Clubs and organizations participate at the fair in order to solicit members to assist them with carrying out the tasks/projects, activities and community service responsibilities outlined in their constitutions.

Community Service Fair

Organizations are able to participate by registration only.

At Geisinger Commonwealth, our students are required to participate in 100 hours of community service over the course of their four years of education. The goals of this requirement are to enhance students’ medical education through meaningful service-learning experiences, address community needs and build relationships and good will with our community members, leaders and organizations.

To accomplish these goals, we solicit service organizations that are willing to form a partnership with us by providing our students the opportunity to perform their service hours with them. To ensure that the service experience is meaningful to both the student and the organization, Geisinger Commonwealth encourages students to provide no less than 20 hours of service to a single organization, although exceptions will be considered.

In addition, service hours must be completed within Geisinger Commonwealth’s 21-county service area in Pennsylvania: Bradford, Carbon, Clinton, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

Riches of the Region

Businesses are able to participate by registration only.

Geisinger Commonwealth’s new students arrive in August. An important goal of our orientation program is to acquaint the incoming students to their new surroundings. We encourage students to frequent local restaurants and businesses during their time in Scranton. In that regard, we offer selected local vendors the opportunity to promote their establishments to this large group of potential new patrons. As a local business, we believe this would be a wonderful opportunity for you to help us welcome our new students to our local community.

For the event, we organize a showcase lunch for the new students. We ask registered vendors from the local area who would like to promote their establishment to bring free samples: food, menus and/or coupons of their specialties to share with the new students of Geisinger Commonwealth.
