Improving healthcare for everyone

Get involved in a research study

Geisinger offers access to a wide variety of studies for all kinds of people — whether you’re healthy or have a medical condition. By getting involved, you help us study the causes of disease, disease prevention and new treatments. Research can make a difference and your participation helps us improve healthcare for everyone.

Clinical trials

Clinical trials are research studies designed to find better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases. Depending on your condition and general health, your doctor may offer you a clinical trial as a treatment option.

You can talk with your clinical care team to determine which studies are most appropriate for you and discuss exactly what’s involved. Browse studies that are accepting participants

Opportunities to participate

Anyone can participate in the Geisinger MyCode® Community Health Initiative. In this study, samples of genetic material from patients are sequenced and the data is combined with each participant's medical record to allow our researchers and research partners to investigate new approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic disease.

Other research studies may contact you by letter, phone or email and ask you to participate.

For all research studies, you can ask as many questions as you need. And if for any reason you decide you no longer want to participate, you can stop whenever you want.

Geisinger is committed to protecting the rights and welfare of research participants and promoting excellence in all aspects of research. Learn more about Geisinger's Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and what it means to volunteer as a research participant.

Research at Geisinger

Research has been a fundamental, critical part of Geisinger's mission and vision since its founding over 100 years ago. Dr. Harold Foss, the first leader of the George F. Geisinger Memorial Hospital, believed research would lead to better care for patients. Today, Geisinger's commitment to research is increasingly tied to improving patient outcomes and focused on building a comprehensive, personalized healthcare program.
