Research Interests

Advanced cardiac imaging techniques continue to evolve and add to our ability to finesse the cardiovascular disease phenotype. This has tremendous value in being able to risk stratify the diverse disease phenotype of heart disease. As part of Geisinger’s innovative model of health care delivery, advanced imaging modalities are being rapidly implemented across a large patient population thus giving us large amounts of imaging data from which to draw many important lessons about disease mechanism risk stratification, comparative and cost effectiveness and patient outcomes, all of which will have tremendous long term implications.  My interest is three-fold: First, to create a large, state of art imaging dataset using cardiac MRI in common and rare cardiovascular diseases by performing clinically indicated imaging. This will help improve patients’ outcomes directly by use of the superior technology but also provide opportunities to analyze this imaging dataset in unique ways to help answer important clinical and research questions. Second, to link the imaging dataset to an already robust EHR to create predictive models of disease risk. Lastly, to use the above resources to better understand genomic correlates of disease risk and progression by linking them to genomic data derived at Geisinger.
