Sex Chromosome Disorders

What is involved in this study?
As part of Geisinger’s MAP study, we are interested in understanding the extent to which family background influences learning and behavioral symptoms in individuals with Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and Trisomy X. Participants will be asked to complete online questionnaires about the person with the syndrome and about his/her parent(s) and an unaffected sibling, if available. We will also ask permission to obtain medical and educational records on the person with the syndrome. Analysis of completed questionnaires and records will increase our understanding of how learning and behavioral traits in parents impact the symptoms seen in children with sex chromosome disorders.
Who is eligible to participate?
This study is open to children and adults ages 7 and up with a confirmed diagnosis of Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, or Trisomy X.

Brenda Finucane, MS, LGC and Cora M. Taylor, PhD are researchers at Geisinger’s Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute (ADMI) in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Rebecca Procopio is a student at Bucknell University who serves as the project coordinator. ADMI is a center of clinical care, research, and education focusing on children with developmental disorders, including Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and Trisomy X.
