The Biostatistics Core (BC) provides support to residents, fellows, physicians and Geisinger investigators throughout the system. Its services include general statistical and study design consultation, statistical analysis and interpretation of results, protocol preparation assistance and evaluation, study design and sample size estimation, data collection, data management and analysis. Housed in the Henry Hood Center for Health Research building, the BC is centrally located and easily accessible to all Geisinger researchers.BC personnel consist of PhD- and MS-level biostatisticians. During the summer months, an internship is available for a graduate student to assist in analyses and other statistical consulting.

The Biostatistics Core members have expertise and years of experience in several advanced areas, such as comparative effectiveness, non-randomized observational studies, longitudinal data analysis, multilevel modeling, causal inference, missing data, intra/inter-rater agreement and clinical trials.
