Message from the program director
Radiologic technologists play a vital role in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare environment. Post primary certification empowers technologists to deepen their expertise, explore new career pathways and provide advanced diagnostic imaging services with confidence.
Advanced imaging modalities, such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography and interventional radiography, require specialized training. Our IMAGE (Imaging Modality Advancement & Guided Education) programs equip you with the knowledge and hands-on skills you need to transition smoothly into these specialty roles.
Join us — and be a part of a collaborative community focused on improving patient outcomes through innovative diagnostic practices. Whether you’re beginning your career or ready to take the next step, our programs are designed to support your growth and success.

The Geisinger IMAGE Program (Imaging Modality Advancement & Guided Education Program) for computed tomography is designed for registered radiologic technologists seeking to advance their careers in CT.
This 6-month program prepares you for a successful career in computed tomography by providing the knowledge and skills needed to pass the ARRT CT examination. This program will provide you structured educational credits and offer guidance with the clinical requirements to become ARRT eligible. You’ll receive 8 dedicated hours weekly to work toward fulfilling these requirements. We’ll also provide you with supplementary materials and support. Questions? Contact the radiology education coordinator for CT at kcaputo2@geisinger.edu.
The Geisinger IMAGE Program (Imaging Modality Advancement & Guided Education Program) for interventional radiology is for registered radiologic technologists who wish to pursue a career in IR.
This 18-month program offers clinical and didactic education you need to sit for and successfully pass the vascular interventional boards by the end of the program. You’re guaranteed 8 hours of didactic learning a week (8 a.m. to noon each Monday and Wednesday). The ASRT Vascular Interventional Essentials modules will allow you to acquire the 16 structured education credits needed to sit for the exam. We’ll also use supplementary material along with lectures from other modality experts. The program offers clinical education in body IR, neuro and vascular.
