Opportunities to participate in research
Whether you’re healthy or have a medical condition, Geisinger offers access to a variety of studies. By getting involved, you help us study the causes of disease, disease prevention and new treatments. Research is for everyone — it can make a difference, and your participation helps improve healthcare for all.
Clinical trials
Clinical trials are research studies designed to find better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases. Depending on your condition and general health, your doctor may offer you a clinical trial as a treatment option. You can talk with your clinical care team to determine which studies are most appropriate for you and discuss exactly what’s involved.
Cancer clinical trials and research
We’ve been participating in trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute for over 30 years, bringing prestigious research opportunities to local Geisinger clinics. Our dedicated team of cancer researchers are innovating new cancer interventions all the time. Let us connect you with a study that’s right for you.

Other research studies
Other research studies and clinical trials may contact you by letter, phone or email and ask you to participate. For all research studies, you can ask as many questions as you need. And if for any reason you decide you no longer want to participate, you can stop whenever you want.

MyCode Community Health Initiative
Any Geisinger patient can participate in Geisinger’s MyCode® Community Health Initiative. In this study, we sequence samples of genetic material from patients and combine the data with each participant's medical record. That lets our researchers and research partners investigate new approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic disease.

Research is in our DNA at Geisinger
Research has been a fundamental, critical part of Geisinger's mission and vision since its founding over 100 years ago. Dr. Harold Foss, the first leader of the George F. Geisinger Memorial Hospital, believed research would lead to better care for patients. Today, Geisinger's commitment to research is increasingly tied to improving patient outcomes and focused on building a comprehensive, personalized healthcare program.
