Thank you for your interest in Geisinger's Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.
Geisinger's ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) fellowship program was established in 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC), located in Danville.
HPM specialty is distinguished from other disciplines by:
- A high level of expertise in addressing the multidimensional needs of patients with life-threatening illnesses, including a practical skill set in symptom control interventions
- A high level of expertise in both clinical and non-clinical issues related to advanced illness, the dying process, and bereavement
- A commitment to an interdisciplinary team approach
- A strong focus on the patient and family as the unit of care. We are devoted to meeting the personal and medical needs of each individual, with the goal of providing the best quality of life possible for each patient.
At GMC, we currently have team of HPM board-certified physicians and a nurse practitioner. We work closely with social workers, case managers, chaplains and specialists from all clinical services to manage physical symptoms and psychosocial issues associated with advanced illness. Core faculty for the program is an outstanding faculty who is dedicated in teaching and mentoring, and who share the same values and vision for the program. Visit Geisinger's Palliative and Supportive Medicine website for more information about the department.
I invite you to explore our fellowship.
