Why I chose Geisinger: When you decide to pick a residency program, you’re looking at a specific set of criteria. For me, I knew I was looking for a place that would give me the support and opportunities I needed, not only to be a great physician but a person as well. Having a program that provides that support and a learning environment that you need to build upon is essential. Being a new program, it was hard to gage what to expect, but after meeting with the faculty and staff, I instantly knew this was the place for me — from how friendly and approachable the administration is to the special emphasis on education. By exposing us to all the different subspecialties in the medical field, they are committed to making us reach our full potential. I knew this was a great opportunity to start something meaningful from the ground up, and, in doing so, making this dream of a strong residency program possible. What do I like best? Well, it’s not just one thing, it’s the whole package. I love how the staff is always looking after our overall well-being. How education is a priority to the residents, having no topic too small to discuss. Not only that, but having such unique, medically complex patients to learn from provides us experience that we can take forward into our medical career and feel confident in our abilities.

Why I chose Geisinger: I rotated and worked in the northeastern Geisinger hospitals. When it was time to pick a residency program, Geisinger was an easy choice for me. Population management, humanities rotations and positive team leaders are the best part of our residency program, helping to grow as a complete physician. I’ve been living in northeastern Pennsylvania the last two years. This is a beautiful place to live with many outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and biking trails, kayaking and river rafting.
