I also appreciated how the program focuses on creating holistic physicians, with rotations aimed at helping residents connect with patients, like our humanities and population management rotations.

Why I chose Geisinger: Being a former project coordinator and postdoctoral fellow, it was an easy decision for me to know which program to pick for residency. I chose Geisinger for access to their electronic and genetic data that is readily available for research use. Geisinger Northeast is a great place for me to begin my career path as a resident. I can continue doing research based on Geisinger’s precision medicine program. And I can serve patients with highly individualized care. The faculty offers great teaching as well as one-on-one resident/faculty mentoring. Plus, the beauty of northeastern Pennsylvania is breathtaking and keeps me and my family busy during time off.

Why I chose Geisinger: I had the pleasure of auditioning at Geisinger Northeast where I got to see the awesome pathology present in the region and work alongside great physicians, advanced providers and clinical staff. I learned a lot in my monthlong rotation and really enjoyed my experience. I knew that for the next three years of training, Geisinger Northeast would be a great fit for my education and growth as a physician.
Interests: I love long walks on the beach, but you can also find me working on my bikes and riding.

Interests: My favorite movie of all time is Mad Max and I’m always excited to make my wife watch it with me.

Why I chose Geisinger: I was attracted to the well-rounded and multidisciplinary approach toward medicine and the great emphasis on leadership, wellness and patient care. Here, I have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of patient care and community outreach. Our program is dedicated towards the wellness of residents and faculty, blended with a strong curriculum to polish our skills as physicians. It provides us with the opportunity to help our patients heal and for us to work hard to enhance our skills and become lifelong learners.

Why I chose Geisinger: Because it was a new program, I was excited to get to be part of the inaugural class of residents and help shape the program from its conception. Everyone is so excited to be part of this new program and fully invested in ensuring its success. The attendings are incredible educators who love teaching, and the whole environment at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center is welcoming.
Interests: Travel. I always have a carry-on suitcase half-packed for any last-minute getaway opportunity!

Why I chose Geisinger: When you decide to pick a residency program, you’re looking at a specific set of criteria. For me, I knew I was looking for a place that would give me the support and opportunities I needed, not only to be a great physician but a person as well. Having a program that provides that support and a learning environment that you need to build upon is essential. Being a new program, it was hard to gage what to expect, but after meeting with the faculty and staff, I instantly knew this was the place for me — from how friendly and approachable the administration is to the special emphasis on education. By exposing us to all the different subspecialties in the medical field, they are committed to making us reach our full potential. I knew this was a great opportunity to start something meaningful from the ground up, and, in doing so, making this dream of a strong residency program possible. What do I like best? Well, it’s not just one thing, it’s the whole package. I love how the staff is always looking after our overall well-being. How education is a priority to the residents, having no topic too small to discuss. Not only that, but having such unique, medically complex patients to learn from provides us experience that we can take forward into our medical career and feel confident in our abilities.

Why I chose Geisinger: I rotated and worked in the northeastern Geisinger hospitals. When it was time to pick a residency program, Geisinger was an easy choice for me. Geisinger provides all the advantages of a large academic center with the feeling of a community hospital, residency leadership and resources for research. Population management, humanities rotations and positive team leaders are the best part of our residency program, helping to grow as a complete physician. I’ve been living in northeastern Pennsylvania the last two years. This is a beautiful place to live with many outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and biking trails, kayaking and river rafting.
Interests: Competitive sports (tennis and pickleball), hiking, camping and rooting for the New Orleans Saints and New York Yankees.

Why I chose Geisinger: I’ve witnessed the growth and progress of the hospital and services from administrative level to teaching staff. I had seen how dedicated the teaching teams were while having family medicine residents. I feel that it is a great honor to be in this program. The working environment is friendly. The resident and teaching team are supportive and willing to make you the best future physician. Northeastern Pennsylvania is a very good place for a balance of work and life.
