PGY1 residency: Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center
Why Geisinger? I chose Geisinger not only for its well-rounded balance of inpatient and outpatient experiences, but for the team of preceptors and leaders of the program that made me feel so welcomed from the very first interaction I had with them. The hematology/oncology team at Geisinger is constantly expanding their services and growing which was something I was really looking for in a residency program – to be able to learn the old, the current and the new innovations that this area has to offer. I am interested in blood and marrow transplant (BMT) and was fortunate enough to have had experience in BMT with Geisinger prior to my PGY2 to confirm this passion for the subspeciality and meet a team of preceptors who are so invested in the residents' learning. I wanted a program that had a great foundation but was still growing and was a program that I could grow with, and Geisinger is just that!

Pharmacy school: University of Florida, Gainesville, FL
PGY1 residency: Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital, Provo, UT
PGY2 residency: Cardiology Pharmacy Residency, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN
Why Geisinger? The Geisinger team had me at hello. During the interview process there was a tremendous feeling of welcome, willingness to get to know me and seriousness about helping me continue my professional journey in the oncology space. I noted the preceptors absorbing my past and current professional background and what Geisinger could add. I realized they would help me reach a unique professional role. The pharmacy team, from current residents to management, to oncology preceptors showed great support. I appreciated the breadth and depth of experiences outlined for the oncology residency, from inpatient to ambulatory care. From attention to past news, I knew Geisinger as a leader in many areas and as an integrated enterprise recognized for innovation. They have been highlighted by at least one past president as providing cost-conscious, high-quality care to patients/families. It is a privilege to serve some rural communities and get a chance to be part of care for patients and families who seek Geisinger as their care destination. It is also a blessing to explore the natural beauty of Pennsylvania close to family, old and new friends.
