Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine is pleased to announce that 10 of our fourth-year medical students have successfully matched into residency programs.

While most of our MD Class of 2018 class will learn the locations of their residency programs at noon on Friday, March 16, several "matches” occur prior to the national residency event for military students and for specialties such as ophthalmology and urology.

The students successfully matched to residency programs in the military are:

  • Jared Egbert of South Abington Township, transitional year at Madigan Army Hospital
  • Daniel Mecca of Dickson City, urology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
  • Caroline Moore of Glen Mills, internal medicine at Naval Medical Center San Diego
  • Allison Scalzo of Harding, physical medicine & rehabilitation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
  • Elias Tohme of Wilkes-Barre, transitional year at San Antonio Military Medical Center,

The students successfully matched into ophthalmology or urology are:

  • Tyler Berger of Lower Burrell, ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati
  • Mairghread (Maggie) Casey of Wayne, ophthalmology at Ohio State University
  • Taylor Givnish of Huntingdon Valley, ophthalmology at Temple University
  • Brett Giblin of Fairview, urology at University of Vermont School of Medicine 
  • Sriharsha Talluri of York, urology at University of Louisville.
