Cost of attendance: ADN program
The cost of attendance (COA), also referred to as the “student budget,” is the estimated expenses you’ll incur during the academic year for tuition and fees paid to Geisinger School of Nursing, as well as for academic and living expenses related to enrollment.
Review the COA to see if the estimated expenses can be minimized in any way. If you need the full amounts listed for each expense item, then you’ll need financial assistance up to the total COA. However, living expenses are estimated and you may set an individual budget that is less than the total cost of attendance, which will minimize the amount you need to borrow. If you’d like, you can get help with budgeting through the financial aid office. See below for a breakdown of allowable cost of living expenses.
Although your non-tuition/fees costs will vary according to your own means, lifestyle choices and budgeting skills, federal aid regulations mandate that financial aid offices develop annual COA budgets that define and limit expenses eligible for financial aid funding. The COA budget provides for a modest but feasible student lifestyle.
Explanation of expenses
Direct cost: Tuition and fees (educational expenses)
Direct billable costs are costs for which Geisinger School of Nursing will send you an invoice. Tuition and fees are always direct billable costs.
Indirect cost: Cost of living expenses (non-educational expenses)
Indirect costs are costs you can incur while attending Geisinger School of Nursing, but you don’t pay them to the School of Nursing. Examples of indirect costs include books and supplies, transportation, personal expenses and off-campus living expenses.
Note: Annual tuition increases are typically between 2% and 5%.
