Pharmacy Education
About us
Enterprise Pharmacy is well-positioned across Geisinger’s clinical enterprise to provide a variety of clinical experiences for pharmacy students looking for introductory or advanced pharmacy practice experience rotations.
Pharmacists host students in several different inpatient, outpatient and administrative practices as well as specialized and unique settings. Our mission with each student is to provide an authentic learning experience in an advanced practice environment.
Students will work and learn alongside pharmacists integrated into the healthcare team and practicing at the top of their license through collaborative drug therapy management agreements and clinical protocols.

We can’t work directly with students to set up and coordinate rotations. For information on access to our introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences, offices of experiential education should reach out to Daniel Longyhore (dlongyhore1@geisinger.edu), system director of knowledge management for Geisinger Enterprise Pharmacy.
Pharmacy internships and co-op programs
Enterprise Pharmacy also hosts a Summer Internship Program and a Co-Op Program for eligible pharmacy and high school students.
Pharmacy Summer Intern Program
The Pharmacy Summer Intern Program is a 13-week (May to August) residency-like internship for students rising from P2 to P3 status at their schools of pharmacy. Students apply to and are matched at one or multiple locations across the system, including Geisinger Lewistown Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Summer interns:
- Rotate through different clinical care areas
- Complete medication-use evaluations
- Lead clinical administrative projects
- Become integrated members of the pharmacy and patient care teams
A call for applications will be sent to schools in late October/early November of each academic year. If you’re interested in applying, have your school representative reach out to Daniel Longyhore (dlongyhore1@geisinger.edu) to be added to the distribution list.
