We accept applications for our program through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our fellowship program participates in the National Resident Matching Program

  • ACGME program ID: 15210274
  • NRMP program code: 1608140C1

Resident selection overview

The academic year begins on July 1. Applicants are selected for interviews based on several criteria, including:

  • Personal standards of faculty members and current residents
  • Personal characteristics that align with our vision and will add to our program’s strengths
  • Medical school transcripts
  • Letters of recommendation
  • USMLE/COMLEX scores

Interviews take place from October through December. This year, interviews will be virtual.

If selected to interview, you’ll meet with residency leadership and spend time with current residents. You’ll get in-depth information about the program and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Medical student rotations

We participate in the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO®) program. A select group of fourth-year medical students have the opportunity to do sub-internships with our Internal Medicine Department. We encourage all qualified applicants to visit the department. And we invite visiting students to participate in daily conferences.

For more information about VSLO, including discount-rate housing for participating students, contact medstudents@geisinger.edu.
