Research Interests
Dr. Grassi is an assistant professor, clinical research within the Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes and an MTDM clinical pharmacist with Neurology focused on managing and monitoring biologics for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). He is the investigator on several research grants for evaluating treatment of MS and is working to implement clinical pharmacy disease management services for those on Neuro immune Modulating Therapies with neuromuscular disorders. He is a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist and has worked within the Geisinger Health System for 15 years helping to implement clinical pharmacy services in both the inpatient and ambulatory care settings, specifically internal medicine, special care, cardiology, geriatrics, and more recently, Comprehensive Care Clinic for Medically Complex Children and Neurology for those on Disease Modifying Therapy’s (DMTs) for MS. He has utilized his experience with managing patients with chronic disease states in many areas of practice to discover gaps in the scientific literature and to help develop innovative research strategies to improve healthcare outcomes for patients. In particular, his research areas of interest are within the biologics realm of Neuroscience evaluating an evidence based Care Path for MS to assess impact and quality of the program which includes optimizing DMTs based on MS disease severity utilizing a health information technology tool (MSPT), decreasing exacerbations, assessing adherence of DMTs, and decreasing utilization of healthcare resources to help contain cost. Other potential areas of research interest are within Neuroscience, Biologic treatments in many disease states, and utilizing Health Information Technology to improve patient outcomes.
