How to apply

The application period for this program opens 3 times a year — typically during the months of January, May and September. Class locations vary for each application period and are clearly stated in the job postings. 

• Accepted January applicants will start classes the following May.  
• Accepted May applicants will start classes the following September.
• Accepted September applicants will start classes the following January.

The application process includes an online application and submission of a detailed resume at jobs.geisinger.org and an interview with School of Phlebotomy staff.

Upon acceptance, you’ll complete Geisinger’s onboarding process, which includes:

• A background check
• Meeting with employee health, including a nicotine and drug screen
• A reference check

Tuition

This program is valued at $3,500, but tuition is waived for students in exchange for a paid, full-time, 24-month work commitment with Geisinger Medical Laboratories. Students don’t perform service work hours. You will need to purchase scrubs. During training, you’ll be paid an hourly wage. After you complete the program, you’ll be promoted to the role of phlebotomist II.

• Child abuse history clearance
• Fingerprint clearance
• Immunization review
• Background check (PATCH)
• Formal interview
