Clinical Psychology Internship Application procedures

Apply by completing the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) Application for Psychology Internships. This clinical psychology internship application is used for all Geisinger clinical psychology internship positions. You must submit a copy of the APPIC application form, curriculum vitae and three letters of reference. We encourage you to apply for the track that best suits your training and professional goals: pediatric integrated primary care or adult clinical and health psychology.

The application deadline is Nov. 13.

The Geisinger Clinical Psychology Internship participates in the APPIC match and complies with all APPIC policies. Visit APPIC for a comprehensive overview of the application and matching process. Applicants use the APPIC Internship Matching Program, operated by National Matching Services Inc., to rank potential internship sites. We recommend that you subscribe to the APPIC Match-News List as early as possible in this process.

  • 153011 Pediatric integrated primary care track
  • 153013 Adult clinical/health psychology track (at GMC in Danville, PA)
  • 153015 Adult psychology/behavioral medicine track – Northeast (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA)

Selection procedures

Preference is given to applicants who meet four admission criteria:

  • Enrolled in an APA-approved doctoral training program
  • At least three years of full-time graduate level training (four years preferred)
  • Have a masters degree in psychology or counseling
  • Passed the comprehensive or qualifying exam by the application deadline
  • Approved dissertation proposal by application deadline

Interview

Once applications are reviewed, a select number of applicants are invited to attend virtual interview days scheduled between December and January. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about the program, meet with faculty and current interns and visit the training sites. You will be informed about selection for interviews by Dec. 15.

The internship year begins during the first week of July and ends June 30 of the following year.

As of 2017, the following standardized tables of admission, support and initial placement data are required for all APA-accredited internship program websites. The Clinical Psychology Internship Training Program tables are updated annually.
