Application procedures

Apply by completing the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) Application for Psychology Internships. You must submit a copy of the APPIC application form, curriculum vitae and 3 letters of reference. Apply for the track that best suits your training and professional goals: Child Clinical/Pediatric Psychology or Adult Clinical and Health Psychology.

APPIC match

The Geisinger Clinical Psychology Internship participates in the APPIC match and complies with all APPIC policies. Visit APPIC for a comprehensive overview of the application and matching process. Applicants use the APPIC Internship Matching Program, operated by National Matching Services Inc., to rank potential internship sites. We recommend that you subscribe to the APPIC Match-News List as early as possible in this process.

APPIC code numbers for Geisinger:

• 153011 Child Clinical/Pediatric Psychology track
• 153013 Adult Clinical/Health Psychology track
• Clinical experiences for these tracks are in or around Danville, Pa.

Selection procedures

Preference is given to applicants who meet 4 admission criteria:

• Enrolled in an APA-approved doctoral training program
• At least 3 years of full-time graduate level training (4 years preferred)
• Have a master's degree in psychology or counseling
• Passed the comprehensive or qualifying exam by the application deadline
• Approved dissertation proposal by application deadline

Interview

Once applications are reviewed, select applicants are invited to attend virtual interview days in January. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about the program, meet with faculty and current interns and visit the training sites. You will be informed about selection for interviews no later than Dec. 11, 2026.

Accredited Programs

The internship year begins during the first week of July and ends June 30 of the following year.
