Virtual orientation sessions

We have coordinated virtual orientation sessions for new incoming residents and fellows.

Brief summary and content for each session is listed below:

Welcome to Geisinger

All incoming residents/fellows should attend the  Welcome to Geisinger session, which will cover upcoming important correspondences, key onboarding deadlines and a review of all onboarding requirements.

Visas

All incoming residents/fellows should attend the Visa session if they require an H1B visa or J1 visa to start their Geisinger program.
This session will review the step-by-step process for obtaining visas, applying for an SSN, responsibilities of residents/fellows and a Q&A where current residents/fellows on visas can answer questions.

Visas Q&A on “settling in”

This Q&A session with current residents and fellows will benefit anyone entering the United States for the first time. Ask questions about applying for a Social Security card, banking options, obtaining a driver’s license, transportation, buying a house, finding childcare, etc.

Epic support

These sessions, recommended for everyone, provide advanced guidance on using our EMR, called Epic. A member of our clinical team will share their screen and walk you through how they use Epic. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and get a head start on using the system, which is crucial to success at Geisinger.
