Sarah Krahe Dombrowski, PharmD, BCACP

Dr. Sarah Dombrowski is a graduate of the Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, where she received her Doctor of Pharmacy. After pharmacy school, Dr. Dombrowski completed a PGY1 community pharmacy residency with the University of Pittsburgh and Rite Aid and a PGY2 specialty residency in ambulatory care/family medicine with UPMC St. Margaret. Following residency, she taught at LECOM School of Pharmacy before accepting a position with Geisinger as an ambulatory clinical pharmacist. Dr. Dombrowski currently practices at Geisinger 65 Forward - a senior-focused practice where she cares for older adults with chronic conditions. She is also a faculty member with Geisinger College of Health Sciences, where she serves as a preceptor for the geriatrics and research learning experiences with Geisinger Clinics West PGY1 residency program and does research with the Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes. Her research interests include medication management of chronic disease especially diabetes and multimorbidity, as well as deprescribing and polypharmacy.  

Elena Marines, PharmD

Dr. Marines graduated from Wilkes University’s Nesbitt School of Pharmacy in May 2020. She completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency with Geisinger Clinics West. After graduation from her residency, she accepted a position as an MTDM clinical pharmacist in the Geisinger Lewistown and Reedsville clinics before moving to Geisinger Bellefonte. Her professional interests include chronic disease state management, with a special interest in diabetes. Dr. Marines serves as a preceptor for the resident’s Orientation, Anticoagulation and Family Practice Medication Therapy and Disease Management learning experiences.

Bernard Eck, BS Pharmacy, CACP, CDE
Clinical Pharmacist, Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Programs

Bernie Eck is a graduate of Temple University School of Pharmacy in 1986. While a student, he participated in nuclear pharmacy research and worked at a nuclear pharmacy. After graduation, he worked in community pharmacy for two years. He worked as a pharmacist at Lewistown Hospital for three years and was director of pharmacy at HealthSouth Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital. As the director, he initiated clinical programs, aminoglycoside monitoring and anticoagulation monitoring. He then accepted a position as an ambulatory clinical pharmacist with Geisinger, specializing in anticoagulation initially, then expanding to asthma, diabetes, dyslipidemia and hypertension management plus benzodiazepine tapering. His professional interests include patient education overall, but particularly diabetes education. Mr. Eck is a preceptor for the anticoagulation learning experience at Geisinger Scenery Park.

Alison F. Flango, PharmD, CACP, CDE

Dr. Flango is a graduate of the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2005. After graduation, she worked for CVS Pharmacy in Lewistown, Pa. She accepted a position as a clinical pharmacist with Geisinger, specializing in anticoagulation in 2010. She has since completed the Geisinger competencies for diabetes, dyslipidemia, asthma/COPD, heart failure and hypertension management and is practicing as an ambulatory pharmacist. Dr. Flango is a preceptor for the management and administration learning experience. Her professional interests include diabetes, patient education and teaching. In her current role, she manages the daily operations of 15 MTDM clinics and 18 clinical pharmacists.

Victoria Ireland, PharmD 
Acute Care Clinical Pharmacist

Dr. Ireland is a graduate of Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2022. Upon graduation, she started an acute care pharmacist position at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Her professional interests include internal medicine, critical care and hematology/oncology. She is involved in our residency as the primary preceptor for the Internal Medicine with Transition of Care Focus

Samantha Kitko, PharmD, BCACP
Clinical Pharmacist, Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Programs

Dr. Kitko graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy in May 2021. Upon graduation, she completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency with Geisinger Clinic West. She then accepted a position as an MTDM clinical pharmacist in the Geisinger Bellefonte clinic and is now practicing at the Moshannon Valley clinic. Her professional interests include chronic disease state management, including diabetes, anticoagulation, smoking cessation, and she has a special interest in geriatric care. Dr. Kitko is a wellness mentor and coordinator for the residents.

Erica Madden, PharmD

Dr. Madden is a graduate of Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy/Nursing and received her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2010. After graduation she worked as a retail pharmacist with CVS for 13 years. She transitioned to the Geisinger centralized clinical pharmacy services (CCPS) department in January 2020. Her interests include chronic disease management, pharmacy education, patient education and interprofessional collaboration. While at CCPS, she has assisted with UTI management, medication prior authorization review/submission, transition of the Carbondale clinic into our workflow, development of our departmental training guide and development of smart-phrases and workflow processes as well as contributed as a peer-to-peer review moderator. Most recently she has been a part of the non-CE diabetes initiative for the Geisinger Health Plan. She has a passion for diabetes education/management. Dr. Madden is a preceptor for the staffing learning experience.

Colleen Strouse, PharmD, BCACP

Dr. Strouse is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2011 and her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2015. After graduation, she completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Following residency, she accepted a position as an ambulatory clinical pharmacist with Geisinger, specializing in anticoagulation, asthma, diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension and pain management. Her professional interests include diabetes, cardiology and pain management. She is the preceptor for the Family Practice Medication Therapy and Disease Management learning experience at Geisinger Healthplex State College, where she also teaches the residents in chronic pain management.

Dr. Swigart is a graduate of the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy at Wilkes University, earning her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2007. After graduation, she accepted a position at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa., as an inpatient pharmacist. In 2010, she transitioned into her current ambulatory care position at the Geisinger Lewisburg clinic. Dr. Swigart is a preceptor for the drug information learning experience. Her professional interests include anticoagulation and chronic disease management.

Ryley Uber, PharmD
Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacogenomics

Dr. Uber graduated from Cedarville University School of Pharmacy with his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2018. Upon graduation, he began a two-year fellowship in clinical pharmacogenomics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. During fellowship, he ran the pharmacogenomics testing service for the cardiac catheterization laboratory and conducted clinical research, including clinical service outcomes and machine learning development. Prior to fellowship completion, he accepted his current position at Geisinger in 2020. In this position, Dr. Uber’s time is split between pharmacogenomics research and implementation throughout the health system. Dr. Uber is a preceptor for the pharmacogenomics learning experience.

Katelyn Valenti-Aiello, PharmD
Pharmacy Manager, Outpatient Pharmacy

Dr. Valenti-Aiello graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy in May 2017. She has over 13 years of community pharmacy experience and has been in her current position as Pharmacy Manager at Geisinger State College Healthplex since August 2023.  She has implemented and oversees the Blister Pack, Alt-Dispense and Script Capture programs at her location. Dr. Valenti is also head of the retail pharmacy initiative for inventory management and waste reduction. Her professional interests include medication adherence and vaccine compliance.

Dr. Ward is a graduate of the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy at Wilkes University. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2013. After graduation he accepted a position as an ambulatory clinical pharmacist with Geisinger, specializing in anticoagulation, diabetes, dyslipidemia, asthma, hypertension and heart failure management. Dr. Ward is a preceptor for drug information and administration and management learning experiences. His professional interests include diabetes, heart failure and information mastery.

Dr. DelGrosso is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy. She completed her pre-pharmacy studies at the University of Pittsburgh and went on to earn her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2018. After graduation, she completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA. She accepted a position as a cardiology clinical pharmacist with Geisinger after graduating her residency. Dr. DelGrosso is a preceptor for the orientation, leadership and teaching, and cardiology learning experiences as well as the residency program director for the Geisinger Clinic West PGY1 Residency program. Her professional interests include diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, dyslipidemia, smoking cessation, teaching and transitions of care.
