Working at Geisinger

We're a top employer who cares about our employees.

Geisinger was named to the 2022 Forbes list of Best Employers for New Graduates.

The rankings were selected based on Statista's innovative methodology, guaranteeing unbiased results, and providing reliable insights. More than 20,000 U.S. young professionals who work for companies that employ at least 1,000 people participated in the independent survey, which focused on work-related issues and their experiences in the workplace.

“It’s an honor to be recognized,” says Brion Lieberman, chief human resources officer. "We have a strong values-based culture rooted in our people and we want Geisinger to be a place where you can stay and build a rewarding career.”

“No matter what stage of your career, there’s something for everyone,” adds Julene Campion, vice president of recruitment and learning & development. “Whether you’re a new graduate or re-entering the workforce, a seasoned professional or looking for a career shift, we have services and programs to help you grow and achieve your goals.”

Participants were asked to rate the likelihood they would recommend their employer to family and friends. They also assessed their employers according to safety of work environment, competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement, effectiveness of diversity and inclusion efforts and company image. Finally, participants were asked to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stand out either positively or negatively.

Geisinger's Nursing Scholars Program

Nurses make up the largest segment of the healthcare workforce. They play critical roles in caring for patients. Now, Geisinger employees interested in pursuing a career in nursing or nursing support have an easier path.

Open to any employee who isn’t already a registered nurse, physician or advance practice provider, Geisinger’s Nursing Scholars Program offers generous financial assistance and professional support to employees going to school to become a registered nurse (RN), surgical technologist (ST), licensed practical nurse (LPN) or certified medical assistant (CMA).

Depending on the career pathway chosen, the program awards financial support from $7,000 to $40,000 with a work commitment between two- and five-years following graduation:

  • RN = $40,000 + 5-year work commitment as an inpatient RN
  • ST = $22,000 + 2.5-year work commitment
  • LPN = $20,000 + 2-year work commitment as an inpatient LPN
  • CMA = $7,000 + 2-year work commitment as an outpatient CMA

While supporting employee career and professional goals, the program will also mitigate a shortage of nurses across the organization and beyond. The program serves as an entry point into the healthcare profession for high school students and for anyone considering a career in nursing. Applications to the program are accepted throughout the year.

To set the nursing scholars up for success, the program offers guidance in choosing a school and type of degree. Geisinger nurses and leaders also offer mentorship support.

Community members who are not Geisinger employees can apply for available positions within Geisinger and qualify for the program starting day one of employment. The Geisinger Career Center, a recruitment and career services hub, offers community members and Geisinger employees the chance to make a difference through available job opportunities.

Beyond the physical career center, located at 529 Mill St. in Danville, anyone interested can make virtual or phone consultations to learn about Geisinger careers. Candidates can speak with a Geisinger representative about open positions, and current Geisinger employees can learn more about professional development resources and events.
