Geisinger Commonwealth Summer Research Immersion Program Symposium 2024

Tuesday, July 30

The annual Summer Research Immersion Program offers research opportunities to students between the first and second years of the MD curriculum. Over eight weeks, students work alone or in pairs on a wide variety of projects under a mentor’s guidance. Projects are presented at a Summer Research Symposium. This year, more than 100 students from the Class of 2027 will present at two poster sessions at Geisinger Commonweath’s Medical Sciences Building.

The symposium will begin with a keynote talk by Pugazhendhi Vijayaraman, MD, Geisinger’s system chief of Clinical Electrophysiology and cardiology director for Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Dr. Vijayaraman is the recipient of Geisinger’s 2023 Henry Hood Award for Clinical and Research Excellence.

Following the keynote, two sessions will feature academic posters prepared by the participants of the 2024 Summer Research Immersion Program. Top posters/projects will be awarded at the end of poster session B, and the day will conclude with a reception for participants, mentors and the incoming MD Class of 2028.

Geisinger Commonwealth Parking Lot B will be open for parking.
